Instagram Officially Rolls Out the Repost Feature

Instagram has launched its Repost feature, finally giving users a native way to reshare content on the platform. With this update, you can now reshare public posts and Reels directly to your feed.

These reposts not only appear in your followers’ feeds but also live in a brand-new Reposts tab on your profile. This addition makes shared content more visible and easier for audiences to discover, creating new opportunities for reach and engagement.

Until now, Instagram users relied on third-party apps, screenshots, or Stories to reshare content – a clunky workaround at best. With the new Repost option, Instagram has streamlined this behaviour:

  • Posts & Reels: You can repost both to your main feed.
  • Attribution: The original creator is automatically credited.
  • Profile Tab: Reposts are collected under a dedicated tab, separate from your own posts.

The Repost feature could be a game-changer for anyone trying to grow on Instagram:

  • Increased Reach: Your content can now spread beyond your immediate followers more easily, appearing in other users’ feeds and profiles.
  • Social Proof: A repost acts like an endorsement – when someone shares your post, it signals quality and trust.
  • Longevity: Unlike Stories (which expire), reposted content has a lasting presence via the Reposts tab.

Now’s the time to start experimenting with content worth resharing – because the more people who repost your work, the further your reach can go.
